Who Should Attend?

It is recommended that you have completed a Basic CPTED course.

A must for those who want to go beyond Basic CPTED!

CPTED is defined as "the proper design and effective use of the built environment that can lead to a reduction in the fear and incidence of crime and an improvement in the quality of life. The goal of CPTED is to reduce opportunities for crime that may be inherent in the design of structures or in the design of neighborhoods.

Benefits of Attending

Cities and Counties throughout the country are adopting CPTED ordinances requiring site plan reviews with crime prevention in mind. Law enforcement officers who are especially trained in CPTED are now working closely with Planners, Architects, City Officials, and Educators to ensure the proper design of structures, schools, and neighborhoods.

Presenters

Art Hushen was instrumental in the creation of the Tampa Police Department's CPTED Unit where he is the lead officer. He worked closely with city planners to create the CPTED review process for the City of Tampa's Planning & Zoning and Parks Department. He is an instructor for the Florida Attorney General's Office specializing in Basic and Advanced CPTED and CPTED in Schools. He is also an adjunct instructor for Fox Valley Technical College specializing in CPTED. Art received his CPTED and Crime Prevention Practitioner Designation through the Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute and his Crime Prevention Specialist designation through the ISCPP. He has over twenty-eight years of law enforcement experience.

Art is the President of the Florida CPTED Network and serves on the Board of Directors of the International CPTED Association. He is a member of the American Planning Association, the Florida Chapter of the APA, the American Society For Industrial Security, and a graduate of the NCPI, ACPI, and Fox Valley Technical College specializing in Basic and Advanced CPTED. Art has a BA in Criminology from the University of South Florida. He conducts CPTED workshops throughout the United States
